Big Buddah

Big Buddha
Located @ Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, Outlying Islands

How to get to the Big Buddha:

MTR Tung Chung Station Exit B, then take Ngong Ping Cable Car, which takes around 25 minutes.

The big Buddha statue in Hong Kong is the world largest statue at 34 meters in height and weighs around 250 tones.

Once you arrive at the Buddha you will have to climb a stair case containing 250 stair to reach the top of the big Buddha, so wear comfortable shoes that you are able to climb a bunch of stair with.

Tai O Fishing Village
Located @ Lantau Island, Outlying Islands

How to get to the Tai O Fishing Village:

Take the MTR to Tung Chung Station and then the number 11 bus from Tung Chung Town Centre for a total journey of around 1hr 10mins

The Tai O Fishing village is a famous village known for its fisher man. Most people that live in this village are fishers and they fish for a living and then sell the fish that they catch at the market.

If you want to see the vast history and how people use to live and how some still do live then you should check out the fishing village because this will give you a great taste of Hong Kong in the past before major skyscrapers were added into the picture.

Both of these wonderful activities can be done on the same day. They have tours available with packages that include a visit to the Big Buddha and the Fishing Village.

Once you get to Tung Chung if its a nice day out and its your first time to do this I would recommend taking the cable car, but if the weather isn't nice taking the bus would be a better option.

The cable car is a bit on the pricey side, but for your first time it is worth the wonderful views that you can get and great pictures, but for the people that do not want to spend a lot of money I would suggest the bus since its only around $38 versus $200-$300 for the cable car.
